25 July 2003
things have been quite busy lately. trevor and i have been swimming at arai pool right next door to our house quite frequently throughtout the week. it's been nice to exercise our limbs and get our heart rates up. we've also been watching a lot of movies lately. of note: love liza, bad boys II and old school. tonight is andreas' going-away party. it should be a lot of fun, although i hate to see him go. we've been working out some song ideas on piano and drums. it seems that piano is helping both of us play with a renewed vision, as trevor's drum parts are much more inventive and the chord progressions i'm finding on the piano keys sound new and inviting. maybe one day we'll get a minidisc recorder in the rehearsal room and record some of it to post online. [16:53] 22 July 2003 yesterday we had a grill-out down by the lake, thanks to russell. much fun was had by all. i had the chance to swing a bat for the first time in years and andreas caught it on film. [15:25]11 July 2003 last night my roommate and i were talking about how we've been listening to a lot of one man (or woman) bands lately. of note are: idaho - levitate aqualung - aqualung catpower - you are free [15:53] 09 July 2003 mewithoutYou graced the stage at the fireside bowl last night and as always their performance was quite passionate. they make rock music the way it should be made, full of life and intensity. afterwards we found ourselves at zephyrs. we spent the evening talking about everything; life, love, God, life in God, God's love and good times were had by all. nic left for london over two hours ago and he'll be back again at the end of this month for an unwed sailor tour. having all of these friends around has been a good thing. very encouraging and inspiring. listen to this. [18:24] 08 July 2003 cornerstone festival 2003 has come and gone. it was great to see so many friends and make some new ones as well. our friend heather was there again filming for her documentary on christian rock. check out her site here: rightrightright.com. the blamed shows went well, especially our show on thursday night. it felt good to rock out again with the full line-up. i've been thinking a lot lately about what it means to fulfill your purpose in life. does your life end once it is fulfilled? how do you determine what your purpose is and when you've fulfilled it?
